Reeta Peshawaria

Reeta Peshawaria Menon was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist Lead at the Tertiary Assessment and Treatment Service of the Specialist Learning Disability Services at the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, Hertfordshire, UK where she worked from 2000 till her death in 2012. Before that she served as Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disability, Hyderabad, Telangana, India for sixteen years. Reeta advocated and practiced Applied Behaviour Analysis. She was strongly influenced by humanistic approaches and wrote extensively on Functional Analysis and Behaviour modification techniques. Her specialism was in Challenging behaviours amongst persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Intellectual Disability. She promoted Self Advocacy and Family support programmes. Staff training and mediator analysis were necessary tools in her intervention programmes. The Fellowship award had been established by the family members of Dr. Reeta Peshawaria Menon, namely Dr Kiran Bedi, Dr Desh Keerti Menon, Ms Anu Peshawaria, and Mr Gaurav Menon to promote her values and practices.

Nature of the Fellowship Award

This Award consists of a Citation and monetary value of Rupees one lakh given to a selected candidate recommended by a committee of experts nominated by the India Vision Foundation. The Award money is released in quarterly instalments of Rs. 25,000 each over a period of 12 months.

Eligibility

Students, Trainees, Teachers attending any University or a College, those attending a training programme in Clinical Psychology, or Special Education, or any Rehabilitation studies at Diploma or Degree level having a special interest in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Autism Spectrum Disorders or Cognitive Behaviour Therapies can apply for the Award. They will have to demonstrate their special interest by submitting a written proposal for Research, an outline of a Review of research papers, or proposed Essay, or Compilation of Practice Guidelines, writing a Manual, or Developing and Implementing an Innovative model of  Services. Conflict of interest, if any must be stated.

Selection

The India Vision Foundation will annually carry out the announcement, and selection process. The selection will be made by a Committee of Experts appointed by the IVF(India Vision Foundation) Trust.

Outcome

On completion of the Award period of 12 months, the Awardee is expected to bring out a report and publish the work carried out in any scientific journal, Newspaper, Essay in a Magazine or a Mimeographed report. All completed projects when published, due credit and acknowledgement be given to the  Reeta Peshawaria Menon Fellowship by stating that this work was carried out with financial support of the Reeta Peshawaria Menon Fellowship Award.

Dr Desh Keerti Menon, is a Clinical Psychologist by training. He has been active in the fields of Mental Health, Disability Rehabilitation and Intellectual Disability, a professional Career that began in 1971 till he sought retirement in 2011. he was Principal Clinical Psychologist.

Gaurav Menon

Gaurav Menon joined Anokiwave in May 2008 as a Senior Design engineer and also served as Director of Engineering. Over the past decade, he has designed and led the development of microwave and mm-wave GaAs MMICs, SiGe RFICs, discrete MICs, modules and packages.
